TM HSBB Now Known as UniFi

Watched the live launching ceremony of TM High Speed Broadband (HSBB) held at Dataran Merdeka thru the live broadcast on TM’s website. The launching was not bad, some more gimmicks here and there, as usual.

One thing that interests me is the new Netbook package for students that will be priced at RM38 that includes a Netbook and the 384kbps internet broadband subscription. That’s good! Maybe I could get one of those since my laptop is broken already.

Other than that, rumors has it that the pricing structure for the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) packages or will later be known as Unifi will be announced on the web by tomorrow. Some say it will only be announced in April. Whatever it is, I hope it will be tomorrow. Come on TM, people are eager to know!

It is also rumored that the price package for TM HSBB or UniFi (whatever you’re calling it) will be as follows:

  • 5mbps (RM150)
  • 10mbps (RM180)
  • 20mbps (up to RM300)

  1. unifi mmg best…tapi syg, sgt mahal untuk golongan bpendaptn rendah & sederhana…p/s goverment tolg tiaw TM bg harga kurang cket..Rm100 for VIP5 its reasonable…pls.

  2. msk die….unifi is an amalgamation of “Uni” which denotes togetherness and camaraderie, while “Fi” symbolises fibre optics

  3. The price package seems kind of expensive for the ordinary guy on the street don’t you think?

    • Taking into consideration the location they are rolling this UniFi project, I’m sure most of the people there could afford this luxury.

  4. TM’s new High Speed Broadband or Unifi is very-very expensive.

Please read and do the comparison. Click those link and see for yourself that our so-called HSBB or Unifi is very very expensive. the Gov want the people to have the internet access so that we can make full use of it to make ourselves more learned and Malaysia can move towards paperless administration & society. but with this kind of charges, tell me how many percent of the people can afford it? only the rich and big corporate can enjoy it. what about the small & medium company? the ordinary people? the commoners? the peasant? the student?
we should liberate our telecommunication service so that TM cannot monopolized and charge us a ridiculous pricing.
and for those who is not so smart, don’t convert the currency, apple to apple. the minimum wages in UK is 5pound per hour. USA 7dollars per hour. find out yourself how much is the minimum wages in Singapore & Australia. in Malaysia the minimum wages is NONE, ZERO, NIL. if you work in McDonald its RM3 per hour. so please do your mathematics and don’t give stupid comment like ” ooh.. they are a developed country while we are still developing”. that kind of remarks may work 20 years ago or before we build the KLCC, F1 Circuit and KLIA.
and ooh.. one more thing, the FUP or bandwidth cap only work maybe in 4th world countries like Papua New Guinea or somewhere on this planet that is so remote that the people still dressed in loincloth or cawat.

    • Relax. I’m just giving reason for the sake of reasoning and the fact that we are still developing is still acceptable. They have just started installing and building necessary infrastructure for this and it might take time for things to settle. And yes I know for the fact that you are VERY smart here, but I doubt what are you doing here? Go lament all this in the press or something. Blog.ariff is just another blog. Who really take advices from me? I’m nobody. So before being too emotional on something and start making remarks of other people’s comments that might be stupid, ask yourself, what do I get by doing this? Am I just wasting my time typing 500 words here just to show that I’m smarter than this guy? Now that’s what I call stupid. Go somewhere where your voice can be clearly heard, speak out and just hope that they will accept your arguments. You will be doing a BIG favor for the ordinary people, commoners, peasant and students.

      Nice having you here.
      =)

    • dude,

i went to all blogs, and i believe that u do have personal vendetta’s against our development and for this matter the UNIFI services. Grow up dude, u cut and paste to all blogs just to express your 2 cents of opinion? i would suggest the same as Ariff did, put it in a proper channel so that the necessary party would listen to your bickering, or are you one of the people that can only express in internet just like Name Wee but dont have the balls to voice it out professionally??

  7. Aioo, I don’t know what to say lah. CURRENTLY, my 4MB line is Crawling at 622kbps!!! AND I HAVE MADE A MILLION COMPLAINS! So what should I be expecting from this newly launched HSBB?

    • Can’t say much. Just hope for the best. You could check my earlier post about the tm HSBB speed test. That’s for the 20mbps package

    • Estimation + Twitter.
Bila infrastructure dah canggih, harga broadband lain (4mbps) pun kurang. Tak boleh compare dengan harga sekarang.
